Enough for This Antihumanism

Beware of Those Who May Promise to offer you Jobs Abroad...  THE news of the travails of Nigerians trapped in  Libya and the Mediterranean  went virile even as the whole world was stunned with the expose of return of slave trade in the 21st century. Shockingly, most of the victims are from Edo State who fell prey to human traffickers, a global cartel with strong links to some unpatriotic Nigerians who have sold their souls to the devil. Libya returnees The very sad story is also a  clear indication of the failure of government over the years. What would have forced our young ones into such harrowing experience of life is that they were not served alternatives by previous governments. Day in day out Nigerians and indeed Edo people are hit with news of the next batch of returnees coming from Libya.  Only last week, no fewer than 275 Edo indigenes voluntarily arrived Benin from Libya with the help of the state government. The number of the victims wallowing i...

But to the people of Zimbabwe, it’s a lifeline. That’s because Zimbabwe’s economy is a basket case. It’s been this way for years. A decade ago, the central bank of Zimbabwe tried to solve its economic problems by printing money… with predictable results. In 2007, the inflation rate in Zimbabwe was running at 24,411% per year. By 2008, the situation was so bad that the government stopped tracking inflation. But experts say the annual inflation rate hit 231 million percent in July 2008. By November 2008, inflation hit 79.6 billion percent. That’s when the government finally admitted that its  currency was worthless… It abandoned its own currency and started to use the U.S. dollar and the South African rand instead. But this hasn’t fixed the country’s problems—not by...

REASON WHY PUBLIC TREASURY LOOTERS HAVE NOT BEEN PROSECUTED Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday said a couple of “strategic advice” from independent sources, anti-corruption committees and special panels set up for the recovery of assets that were allegedly looted by previous government officials, had prevented the current administration from going forward with its desire to prosecute the looters. He also stated that the government had succeeded in weeding out 50,000 ghost workers from its payroll in the last two years, while the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had charged 17 suspects to court for allegedly contributing to the crime.
